Cardiff Devils coach Andrew Lord secures sixth season in charge

The most successful head coach in Devils’ history will return for his sixth season in charge after agreeing a new deal earlier this week.

The new five-year deal gives Lord the option to move elsewhere at the end of next season, if the right opportunity comes along.

Cardiff Devils’ Managing Director Todd Kelman praised the leadership of Lord over the last few seasons.

In Lord’s five years in charge, he has led the Devils to:

  • Two League Championships
  • Two Challenge Cup victories
  • Three Conference titles
  • Back-to-back Playoff Championships

If I could have Andrew Lord working with me for the next 20 years, I would happily do that. He brings passion, detail and motivation every day to the rink and that hasn’t changed since the day he took the job.

But the club said it did not think it would be “fair” to “lock an ambitious young coach” in a long term contract without giving him the option of moving elsewhere.
