Cefn Albion FC announce alleged racism charges against it ‘not proven’
A football team from Cefn Mawr in Wrexham has announced racism allegations against it have been dropped by the Football Association of Wales.
The charges came after an investigation of reported incidents at the semi-final of the FAW Trophy between Cefn Albion and STM Sports at Latham Park in Newtown on 16 March 2019.
Both Cefn Albion and STM Sports were also charged with the alleged failure of its spectators to conduct themselves in an “orderly fashion”.
Cefn Albion FC said it submitted “extensive written, verbal and video evidence” to assist with the investigations.
The FAW said it is led to believe the charge in relation to the alleged racial comments was not proven but the other charges issued to both clubs relating to spectator behaviour were found proven.
It said it will be releasing a full statement on Monday.
