Inquest into death of Carl Sargeant to resume during the summer

The inquest into death of Welsh Assembly Member Carl Sargeant is to reopen during the summer.

The inquest, held in Ruthin, was previously halted by Coroner John Gittins in November 2018.

The former Children’s and Communities Secretary, Carl Sargeant, was found dead at his Connah’s Quay home in November 2017, four days after after being sacked from his role in the Welsh Government. He was facing allegations of inappropriate behaviour, which he denied.

We’re grateful to the coroner for his careful consideration of all matters to date. Even though the inquest is some time away, it is very important for the Sargeant family to have a date set. They continue to hope that the inquest will allow them some much needed answers about the circumstances surrounding Carl’s untimely and tragic death.
