Nurse on Covid-19 ward finds garden wall demolished as she’s about to start 12-hour shift

A nurse about to start her shift on a Covid-19 ward got up to find someone had demolished her wall and driven off.

Lisa Williams, who was been looking after coronavirus patients for nearly two months, was asleep in the house at the time.

She got up to go to work and found the damage.

Lisa, from Rhosddu, is now hoping someone will be able to help her trace the driver.

Wall collapse

The 30-year-old said: “It is shocking and I’m really surprised neither of us heard anything.

“It looks as though someone has skidded, but there are no damaged car parts left or anything like that.”

She added: “This is not what I needed today.”

Lisa said she had been told one neighbour didn’t see any damage when he went out just after midnight on Tuesday morning.

Lisa added: “It is scary but I’m just glad it wasn’t the actual house.”

Lisa has worked at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for eight years.

Her four-year-old and eight-year-old children are currently staying with their father for their safety because she is working around people sick with coronavirus.

Of working on the Covid-19 ward, she said: “It’s scary at times but also rewarding as you know you are doing your best for people in a very different environment to what they are use to.”
