Thieves have stolen a series of bronze tiles from a piece of artwork fixed into the grounds of a carpark in Port Talbot.
The tiles are understood to have been ripped out in broad daylight from the artwork at the rear of Station Road.
Neath Port Talbot council said the crime was “despicable”.
Police are now investigating the theft which is believed to have taken place between 7:30am and 3:30pm on July 20.
The council said its staff are reviewing CCTV and are encouraging local business owners to do the same.
A spokesman said: “This happened in a public car park so we are also asking people if they may have dashcam footage going back to last Saturday or any other information which may assist.
“This is a despicable crime which has deprived the town of a piece of decorative art.”
