Woman’s body discovered in car found in river named as missing nurse Laurie Jones
The body of a woman discovered inside a car found in a river has been named as missing nurse Laurie Jones.
Laurie Jones, from the Blackwood area, was last seen leaving the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A car was discovered in a river near to the B4251 in Wylie, Caerphilly, at around 1pm on Tuesday.
Gwent Police have confirmed that the woman has been formally identified as the 23-year-old paediatric nurse.
Officers are not treating her death as suspicious and specialist officers are offering support to her family.
Laurie’s family have thanked the public for their help and for sharing their appeal to find her when she was reported missing.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, where Laurie worked, described her death as a ”tragic loss.”
